Giancarlo was recommended to me by the doctor who confirmed my autism diagnosis (a year after my ADHD one), after I told him I had already seen two other therapists and, in both cases, never truly felt understood. I would often just agree with them because it was exhausting trying to find other ways to explain my situation. Although sometimes the conclusions we reached seemed to make sense, I was always left with the feeling that they weren't quite right. Over time, I realised they simply couldn't truly understand, because their knowledge of ADHD, autism, and neurodivergence was extremely limited, outdated, and full of misconceptions.
With Giancarlo, however, from the very first sessions, I felt that he genuinely understands the complexity and daily challenges that a neurodivergent person faces. He stays up to date with the latest information and provides resources if you want to explore topics further. He is extremely organised, attentive, and always remembers where we left off. He treats every session with seriousness, even though the atmosphere is relaxed. His questions go straight to the core and help me reach a real conclusion or a deep understanding of the issue and its cause.
He also doesn't limit himself to just listening and offering compassion (as I experienced with other therapists) — he proposes concrete solutions and strategies for getting through periods of burnout, meltdown, stressful times, or other challenges. And, more importantly for me, he proposes solutions to avoid ending up in those situations again, which is even more valuable, especially since I didn't know why I kept reaching the same point.
Sessions are never rushed — in fact, I'm the one watching the clock, being used to sessions ending when the alarm goes off. Our meetings always end naturally after reaching a conclusion and setting a plan for the next session.
Probably the most important thing is that he himself is neurodivergent, and that means we speak the same language, making understanding and communication so much easier.
I wholeheartedly recommend that anyone, especially those who have received an ADHD or autism diagnosis, have at least one introductory session with Giancarlo. I initially believed that once I received the diagnosis and treatment, things would sort themselves out and that I knew what to do. After a while, I went back to the therapist I had seen before, but things only became more frustrating. Now I believe the journey of understanding, learning and acceptance should have started with a specialist immediately after the diagnosis. The challenges don't disappear overnight, and although they probably never will completely, the difference after just six months of therapy with Giancarlo is something I never would have thought possible.
I came to Giancarlo after several unsuccessful attempts where I couldn't connect with any therapist. I kept encountering myths, subjective opinions, and information that was often simply wrong. When I had my first introductory session with Giancarlo, I felt within the first few minutes that I had finally found what I was looking for. I didn't need to say very much — I knew from the very start that he perfectly understands what I'm going through.
I still remember that the session ended with the realisation "I don't actually know who I am" — something I hadn't fully been aware of until then. For the past 7 months, I've been on a truly eye-opening journey that is helping me discover my authenticity.
In moments of confusion, Giancarlo asks questions that every single time give me those AHA! moments, through which I manage to understand even better why I am and react in a certain way. And what's most important, these realisations come from within me — they're not imposed on me.
What surprised me most throughout the sessions was how every one of my experiences had a name, and how well-informed Giancarlo is in his profession. Behind the name of my experience are years of research, science, and studies — and that gave me a great deal of validation and understanding. I understood that I'm not alone, that what I feel is normal given the context, and that there are strategies through which I can improve my quality of life.
Giancarlo absorbs the information he receives very accurately, retaining details that he brings up at key moments. I've been going through so many changes since working with Giancarlo. So many things have happened "for the first time" — things that until now seemed absolutely impossible to me.
For me, these are the most productive 50+ minutes of my week!
My experience with Giancarlo has been — and continues to be — a breath of fresh air in my journey of discovering and understanding myself as an autistic person with ADHD, diagnosed at over 30 years old. He supported me both during the very difficult period before and during my ADHD diagnosis and the start of medication, and afterwards, when I found my footing and was able to benefit from therapy even more.
A few of the things I appreciate about Giancarlo:
— He has structured thinking and is methodical, which helps me greatly because I can organise my own thoughts more easily.
— He has a flexible approach and adapts to my needs and state in the moment, and therapy flows in a natural, unforced, free way — even though behind the relaxed conversation he maintains focus on therapeutic objectives and processes.
— The psycho-education tailored to my personal situation is a great source of satisfaction and liberation because I understand what's happening with me, I know myself better, I dismantle old beliefs — some given by the myths about neurodivergence circulating offline and online, others formed in early childhood when I didn't know neurodivergence existed and I explained my own characteristics through the lens of my environment, leading to many negative convictions, lack of self-esteem, and the enormous effort to correct what I thought were character flaws, but were in fact autistic and ADHD traits for which I needed accommodations, not the continuous compensation that brought me into a deep burnout, from which I'm now taking steps to overcome based on a plan we shaped together.
— He helps me become aware of my specific needs as a neurodivergent person, my sensory sensitivities and sources of emotional dysregulation, for which I can seek accommodations and adjustments that considerably improve my quality of life. For a long time, I could only see the outcome of internal processes (feeling physically unwell, anxious, depressed, irritated). Now, thanks to therapy, I'm beginning to have better self-awareness and can see in certain situations first the cause, then the stages I go through, and finally the result — meltdown, shutdown, a low point in burnout. With Giancarlo's help, I've even managed to predict that exposure to a certain situation would likely have a certain effect on me, and I could avoid triggering the whole process. The fact that I'm putting my life in order this way is reflected positively in all aspects, with a beneficial effect far beyond the time spent in a therapy session.
— He is extremely well-informed and provides information with exact data and additional reading sources if I wish, which satisfies my need for knowledge, research, and a better understanding of the neurodivergent experience in general. This gives me more flexible thinking, motivates me to find the right people and environments for me, rather than continuing to adapt by masking to what's around me. He helps me understand my family more clearly and find more peace and acceptance — not justification of behaviours, but a clearer understanding of the dynamics of relationships in my life through the lens of neurodivergence.
— Last but not least, alongside his rigorous training as a therapist, he has a personal perspective on neurodivergence and is open to sharing his own experiences where relevant, which adds a human and empathetic dimension to his professionalism.
I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone who feels the need for clarity regarding the possibility of being autistic and/or ADHD or other forms of neurodivergence, or to people who already have a diagnosis and need neuro-affirming support.
I could say it was a long and often disappointing search, trying to find someone suitable to recommend for an adult recently diagnosed with autism or ADHD. But, ultimately, I had the joy of meeting Giancarlo.
From our very first conversations, I could see that he is a truly passionate person, extremely aware of all the complexities and diagnostic implications associated with neurodivergent conditions. Giancarlo is not just a dedicated therapist, but also an active and valued member of all the main Facebook communities in Romania dedicated to neurodivergent people. His consistent presence and contribution in these groups reflects not only his high level of involvement and knowledge, but also his deep compassion and empathy for those he helps.
Speaking with Giancarlo, it is impossible not to feel how devoted he is to understanding and addressing every unique aspect of neurodivergence. Every conversation with him is a clear demonstration of how he combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience, creating an environment where clients feel validated, understood, and supported.
His therapeutic skills are complemented by a sincere desire to make a difference in the lives of those he meets. Giancarlo doesn't just offer counselling and support, but also hope — a guiding light in the often unclear and challenging journey of neurodivergence.
I warmly recommend Giancarlo to anyone looking for an understanding and dedicated therapist, who not only possesses the necessary knowledge and experience, but also the heart and passion to help neurodivergent people live their lives to their fullest potential. With Giancarlo, you will feel heard, respected, and most importantly, understood.
