Sleep and insomnia test (Sleep Condition Indicator, SCI-8)
The Sleep Condition Indicator is a short questionnaire built on the DSM-5 criteria for insomnia. Its eight questions cover the past month: how long it takes you to fall asleep, how long you lie awake at night, how many nights a week are affected, how you rate your sleep, how it affects your mood, energy and concentration, and how long the problem has lasted.
You can complete it online in about two minutes. The score runs from 0 to 32, and a higher score means better sleep. In the validation study, a score of 16 or less picked out most people with probable insomnia. It is a screen, not a diagnosis, and insomnia responds well to cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I).
Written from a neurodivergence-affirming stance: sleep is often disrupted for autistic and ADHD adults, through a later body clock, sensory sensitivity or a mind that will not switch off. That is a support need, not a lack of discipline.

SCI-8
Eight questions about your sleep over the past month: falling asleep, waking, quality and daytime effects. A higher score means better sleep. Takes about two minutes.
"What does this mean?" if a question is not clear, tap this under the question for a plain explanation.
"Not sure about my answer" if your answer is only an approximation, mark it. It does not change the score; it just shows where it may help to come back to it.
